Youth:

 

The Rotary Club of Ocean Grove supports a wide range of programs (under the auspices of Rotary International) which are available to young people resident on the Bellarine Peninsula. These programs are regularly promoted through local schools and newspapers.

Youth Programmes available and supported by the Rotary Club of Ocean Grove are listed below.

 

Roy Rose Awards:- Three awards for citizenship at Bellarine Secondary College:

$100 to a Yr. 7 or 8 student; $150 to a Yr. 9 or 10 student; $250 to a Yr. 11 or 12 student.

 

VCE Support:- $1000 per year to two students during their VCE years.

 

Graham Bath Junior Citizenship Awards:- Continuation of the  program at three Ocean Grove Primary Schools - Ocean Grove P.S., Surfside P.S. and Star of the Sea P.S. There are around 45 students involved this year, all aiming to complete a series of activities to qualify for the award.

 

Rotary Youth Exchange:- We participate in Youth Exchange programs depending on the availability of host families and member availability.

 

National Youth Science Program: (NYSF)    www.nysf.edu.au The National Youth Science Forum promotes and co-ordinates the participation of selected students who are entering year 12 and are interested in science and engineering.  The two week seminars are held in Canberra and Perth in January and students attend seminars and visit workplaces.  Applications close early May.

 

RYPEN & RYLA:- 

In the coming months, we will be seeking applicants for these Rotary leadership programs.

 

RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) is a weekend experience where participants aged 14 to 17 are assisted in forming their own personal values and standards.  RYPEN is held at Creswick and Millicent during April each year and applications close in February.

 

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)  www.ryla9780.com RYLA provides an effective training experience for selected young people who are potential leaders and encourages 25 year olds. RYLA is held each year around April at Kangaroobie, Princetown.
