Acknowledgement of Country
This website contains stories of towns established on the land of the Bengalat balug of the Wadawurrung people. We acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of these lands and pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities who read these stories.
Several interviews include copies of photographs sourced from either:
• the person being interviewed,
• The Bellarine Historical Society (https://www.bellarinehistory.org)
• Barwon Heads Association. (https://www.barwonheadsassociation.com/new-site/heritage/)
In this interview Eddie concentrates on the rich musical history of the Borough of Queenscliff during the 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s.
With a population of less than 1,000 people Queenscliffe was able to field an award-winning Brass band, hold regular pop and rock and roll concerts in the Town Hall and the R.S.L. to which people from all over the Bellarine flocked to.
As a member of these bands as well as the youth club that staged regular Monday night concerts
during the winter and summer seasons Eddie elaborates on the characters and their achievements.
